Funny enough being a dilettante law nerd I know for a fact that my state (and most in the US) specifically allows a spouse to drive any rental vehicle, regardless of whose name is on the rental agreement. Well it turns out according to Zipcar user agreement that no-one aside from account holder can drive the car, under any circumstances. Turns out the car we had reserved was not working and accepting the card to open the door, wife calls, customer service rep lets her access another car, cool, they even refunded the lost half hour. Two weeks earlier my wife went to pick up a zipcar we reserved as I waited at home with the kid, twas a cold day (we live two blocks away from pick up location, so always convenient). Turns out my account had been suspended, hmmm. Doing some bills and paperwork yesterday (Dec 23) and just to verify my reservation (which I received an email confirming day before) I log in to the Zipcar website. 24-Christmas eve) to drive out with the family to see the grandfolks.
